LESSON : 1

THE QUEEN BEE

Central Idea of the Lesson: "The Queen Bee"

The central idea of "The Queen Bee" is that kindness and compassion towards all living beings, no matter how small, are always rewarded. It teaches us that helping others without expecting anything in return can lead to unexpected help and success in our own lives, and that good deeds always come back to us.

Important Points from the Lesson (Easy and Simple Words):

  1. Three brothers went looking for jobs. They left their city together.

  2. The youngest brother was kind. He was a dwarf (very short person).

  3. He saved ants from his elder brother. The elder brother wanted to destroy an anthill, but the dwarf stopped him, saying, "Let the poor things enjoy themselves."

  4. He saved ducks from his brothers. The other two brothers wanted to kill ducks in a lake, but the dwarf said, "You shall not kill them."

  5. He saved bees from his brothers. The elder brothers wanted to burn a bee's nest for honey, but the dwarf stopped them, saying, "I can't let you burn them."

  6. They found a castle where everyone was turned to stone. They found an old man who was still alive.

  7. The old man gave them three hard tasks. If they failed, they would also turn into stone.

    • Task 1: Find a thousand pearls belonging to the king's daughter from under moss in the forest.

    • Task 2: Find the key to the princess's room, lost in a lake.

    • Task 3: Find the youngest princess (who ate honey) among three identical stone statues.

  8. The elder brothers failed the first task and turned into stone.

  9. The dwarf got help from the ants. The ants he had saved came and quickly found all thousand pearls for him.

  10. The dwarf got help from the ducks. The ducks he had saved dived into the lake and brought him the lost key.

  11. The dwarf got help from the queen bee. The queen bee (from the nest he saved) landed on the lips of the princess who had eaten honey, helping the dwarf identify the youngest princess.

  12. The magic spell was broken! Because of the dwarf's kindness, everyone who was turned into stone became alive again.

  13. The dwarf married the youngest princess. His good deeds brought him great reward.

  14. The other brothers also got married. The first and second princesses married the other two brothers.

B. Answer in 2-3 sentences

27. i. The dwarf (the little brother) said this.

ii. The 'poor things' referred to here are the ants.

iii. This statement reveals that the dwarf is kind, compassionate, and respects all living creatures, wishing for them to live undisturbed.

28. The three tasks were: first, to bring a thousand pearls belonging to the king's daughter from under the moss in the forest; second, to find the key of the princess' room lost in a lake; and third, to identify the youngest of the three princesses who were turned into marble statues.

29. The dwarf succeeded in the first task because he had previously saved the king of ants' life. When he cried, the king of ants came with five thousand ants and quickly found all the pearls for him, which his brothers couldn't do.

30. The dwarf's kindness was crucial. He saved the ants, ducks, and bees from harm. In return, the ants helped him find the pearls, the ducks retrieved the lost key, and the queen bee helped him identify the youngest princess, leading to the breaking of the spell.

31. The specific challenge in the third task was that all three princesses, who were turned into marble statues, looked beautiful and alike, making it impossible to identify the youngest by sight. It was resolved when the queen bee, whose life the dwarf had saved, tried the lips of all three and sat on the one who had eaten honey, thus revealing the youngest.

32. The central message of "The Queen Bee" story is that kindness and compassion towards all living beings, no matter how small, are immensely rewarded. The dwarf's selfless acts of saving ants, ducks, and bees led to their reciprocal help, enabling him to overcome seemingly impossible challenges and achieve happiness.
